First PRINT AUCTIONS Sale was a great success in promoting lesser known artists with exceptional talent.
We are thrilled to announce that our first sale of PRINT AUCTIONS was a great success with the sale of interesting quality prints by lesser known, but exceptional artists -that stole the limelight. To this regards we sold Sandile Goje’s Meeting of Two Cultures. 1993 sold for 20K, which should in effect sell for R 60-80k due its importance and exposure. This sale is the highest paid price for a Goje and is a world record.
The first sale also provided a large amount of exposure for lesser known artists with exceptional talent such as Lionel Davies, Isabelle Thompson (Patta Patta). Other artwork that sold where prints by Battiss, Goldin, Skotnes, Diedericks and Boonzaier
We hope to find great South African Prints by both known and unknown artists- to us its about developing an appreciation of the language of SA Printmaking over the last 100 years.
PRINT AUCTIONS go the extra mile- unlike most Auction Houses to inspect the whole print, even if it taken out of its frame so that the buyers receive a 100% report of the item they are buyer and no surprises or additional restoring costs later.
The next PRINT AUCTION Sale 2 will take place Thursday 20- Tuesday 26 August
Call for Consignments ends Thursday 12 August.
