This is one of my most favourate Fred Page prints. The print must have been made on a cheerful PE day as it depicts a very English style architecture of PE with a playful cactus on the window still- that denotes life in the artists house compared to that of the dead and decaying town- eve the tree is dead. The picture is within a picture, beautifully framed by perky patterns. In addition to this Fred Page’s Cutting of the lino seems to record that he had fun with wavy lines of the curtain, as well as he used costic soda to etch the plate to give a tonality to the below grass.
