We are elated to announce that we broke a world record for a SA Artists work on our first sale
Sandile Goje. Meeting of Two Cultures. (Lino 1993) was sold for over 20K on our first debut sale.
The work was hugely undervalued and still is, it sold for 20k, but in real terms should have sold for R 60-80k given its provenance and importance. The work was displayed at Moma’s Impressions From South Africa 1965 onwards at the Museum of Modern Art, as well as published in Phillipa Hobbs’ and Elisabeth Rankin’s Printmaking in a Transforming South Africa (1997) As well as in the MTN/ Javett Collection. The buyer of the print obtained for themselves as a beautiful example of South African Black lino print of a golden period of printmaking 1980-90’s as great investment work, a work that would no doubt gain in value and appreciation in years to come.
